"We wanted to do whatever we could to make the Virginia Symphony experience even easier to obtain through online ticket sales, concert information and community news." About The Virginia Symphony Founded in 1920, the Virginia Symphony has served the communities of Hampton Roads for eight decades, growing with the area to become one of the nation's leading regional symphony orchestras. Once the only orchestra between Baltimore and Atlanta, the Virginia Symphony assumed its present form with the 1979 merger of the Peninsula Symphony Orchestra, the Virginia Beach Pops Symphony, and the Virginia Orchestra Group, a move by community leaders who understood that higher artistic quality and better service could be realized by pooling financial resources for a single professional orchestra. With more than 140 classical, pops, family and educational performances each season, the Virginia Symphony has time and again been recognized for its national caliber of excellence. Hampton Roads has the unique distinction of serving as home to the acclaimed orchestra, which includes over seventy professional musicians and over sixty glorious voices in the Virginia Symphony Chorus.
